— Angela
"I loved it! I never saw what was coming towards the end. I couldn't put it down. I have already recommended this book to several friends."
— Amy
“Highly recommended! I grew up in the area where this story is set. Bo Hunter does an incredible job describing what life is like in rural West Central Georgia. The story, the relationships between characters, and the normally unspoken truths about race relations, organized southern religion, socio-economics, and family kept me wanting more. Not really a "happy ending" type of book, but one that makes you stop and think.... And that definitely makes it worth the read. Again, highly recommended!”
— Bill
"Wow … I didn’t see that coming. As I read I tried to figure out the plot line and predict the ending. About two-thirds of the way through, I thought I had it. I was wrong. The story takes place where I came of age. The setting, the people, the dialogue, and the depiction of events are in keeping with the times—past and present. They cover a lot of social ground and ring true for me. I imagine they could apply to many locations, especially in the South. The plot moves and quickly drew me in. Never a dull moment. I highly recommend it, and I hope other books about Ben Peachy are in the works. He’s a complex character, and I want to know more about him—what came before and what comes next."
— Vicki
"In my 55 years of living I’ve never picked up a novel and read it cover to cover in one sitting — until yesterday. What a WILD swing of events. Great twists. My wife kicked me out of bed last night about 11:30 pm because I had the lamp on (she’s kicked me out of bed for way worse things before). I finished it about midnight and then had dreams about the characters last night. Amazing job."
— Shane
"The style and the story were unique and hooked the reader early on that there was more to this story and it builds very well. Great stories are almost always in some way the stories that everyone can identify with. This was a great story and well written. Also, unintentionally, I keep seeing scenes that I think would be in a movie version. It has lots of possibilities."
— George
"I couldn’t put it down. I loved how the book could pivot from dry humor to complete seriousness in an instant — it caught me off guard in the best way. I highly recommend it."
— Whitney
"If you're a fan of John Grisham's noncomformist protagonists, you'll love Ben Peachy in "The Holler." Bo Hunter hit the bullseye with this one."
— Mary
"Was audibly laughing on the first page. (And it takes a lot to do that for me.) It made me laugh; it made me think, and I was completely sucked in. Definitely recommend reading this one!"
— Brie
"I absolutely loved this book. Such a poignant story that pulled me in from the beginning. Bo’s flawless writing and vivid descriptions of places I know all too well (Middle Georgia/Macon County) made this such an enjoyable read. It was the perfect balance of heart and humor mixed with a bit of tragedy. Overall an entertaining read and I couldn’t put it down. We need more of Ben Peachy’s story."
— Angie
"Great book! I really enjoyed it. I read it in a day. Lots of twists and surprises that I didn’t see coming! I literally laughed out loud a couple of times and gasped a few times too. Highly recommend!"
— Stacey
"I enjoyed how your words made me feel like I was there. I look forward to reading whatever you write next!"
— Mary Ann
"Bo Hunter is dipping into the past for a humorous and introspective look at identity, perseverence and nostalgia with his debut release."
— Houston Home Journal
"This book, "The Holler" is most definitely an excellent read. Depending on your philosophy in life/death, Christianity, atheism, or in between, you will sit up and feel anticipation for what each character is dealing with. The author is a natural, unassuming writer and that's what really shines through. I definitely recommend."
— Vivian
"This is a well-written book! I enjoyed it! And I was entertained by Ben Peachy's 'enlightened' attitude."
